The only way to powder coat checker plate properly is to acid dip it before powder coating, because it is impossible to sand to give the powder coating something to stick to because of the raised tread.

We invested in acid tanks and ALL checker plate is dipped before powder coating, and we been manufacturing to OE spec for over 12 years with no issues.
